Hi girls! This is our last blog post! I'll miss reading all of your work on here, but I'm glad to have almost completed the course.
For this final blog post, I chose to use the strategies that have been really helpful to me this week as I prepare for the end of the semester: 5 Minute Escape and Exploring Rewards.
Let's start with the 5 Minute Escape. I love this strategy, plain and simple. I have a lot of huge papers due this week, so I have been working non-stop all weekend. I even forgot to eat anything until 3:00pm yesterday! It's been crazy, so I definitely need to stop once and a while and breathe. What I like to do is find a peaceful song (I like to use Audrey Hepburn singing "Moon River" from Breakfast at Tiffany's), and get into the yoga pose, Child's Pose. Here's a picture of someone in Child's Pose, just in case you want to try it, but don't know what the pose is:
I've heard that spending 5 minutes in Child's pose is the equivalent of taking a 20 minute nap. I find it to be very restful and once I'm done with that, I feel ready to start working again.
Now let's move on to Exploring Rewards. As I said earlier, this weekend has been insane with work. I've never written so much in my life! This is a special chart that I made of rewards just for this weekend.
So far, it's been working out nicely! I've been rewarding myself as I go along, and I've been getting lots of work done. I have more work than is on this chart, but these are the most important assignments. I know I will continue to use these strategies throughout my time here at SU.
I've really enjoyed working with you all on this blog, and I'm sad to see it go! I wish you all good luck on your finals, and hope you all have a wonderful break! See you in class on Monday (last week of classes, yay!)
I ought to try child's pose for 20 mins to help me relax. I love doing yoga because it refreshes and motivates me to get work done and chunk the task. Great last blog! I'm looking up the Audrey Hepburn song as we speak!
ReplyDeleteI used exploring rewards this week, too. But I think you have done better work than me, because you wrote done the what tasks you are rewarding for, and I think you give yourself good rewards!
ReplyDeleteI DO LOVE YOUR WORK this week, Hannah! Even I cannot do yoga, but reading what you do make me have the feeling of relaxing. And I will use your Exploring Rewards for the following week because it does useful based on the real situation.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely going to try that pose for 5 minutes. I'm totally in need of that feeling you get after a great nap.
