Anticipating Exam Questions and Directional Words/Phrases in DRA 115

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend! The weather is gorgeous!

For this week's Tech assignment, I chose to apply the ANTICIPATING TEST QUESTIONS and DIRECTIONAL WORDS OR PHRASES to my Intro to Theatre Class (DRA 115).

This is the only class in which I have a midterm, and it is coming up this Thursday. I chose these two strategies because I learn very well taking notes, and using those notes later to help me study.

For the ANTICIPATING TEST QUESTIONS strategy, I changed it up a little from the directions. First, I looked over my syllabus, and I noticed that Geri (our professor) is very adamant about our knowledge of the vocabulary she and the other teachers we will have in the theatre department use. I went through the book we are going to be tested on, UNNATURAL ACTS, and found all the bolded words. Then I made flashcards of all the bolded words, with their definitions, and in the end, it turned out to be 80 flashcards exactly! Here are a few of my flashcards:
There are so many words to learn, but I know that the flashcards will help me immensely. Since I am a Kinesthetic Learner, the action of flipping through the flashcards has always helped me.

After creating my flashcards, I decided to put the DIRECTIONAL WORDS OR PHRASES strategy to the test. I went through all of the notes that I have ever taken in class, and chose the 5 most commonly used words:

CHARACTER, FLAW, INTENTION, SUPER OBJECTIVE, & CATHARSIS.

Here is the page on which I documented the number of uses of these words:

I also included definitions, just to reinforce the learning :)

Well, I have to go study my flashcards now! See you all tomorrow! Don't forget to grade yourself!

  1. Using flashcards to remember terms is a great way,and I have to try this with my HOA course, because we have a lot of terms in the exam too.Thank you for your post, Hannah!

  2. I am bad at memorizing stuffs. Your method sparked me on how to solving the problem. But for DIRECTION WORDS OR PHRASES, I am afraid that I cannot use them well in my ECN class. Because this course always have a lot of connections with other chapters( like we learn supply& demand for individual first, and then in the following chapter, we use this in firms, finally, we have to apply this in the whole market). But still you provide a good example.
