I used Source and Topic Outline and Anticipating exam questions for HOA106 Exam 1 this week.Because I am a kinestheic and linear learner and this course has a lot of artwork to cover so I used this two strategies to get organized on this course.
Source and Topic Outline
First, I created a source outline to make it clear what are the sources available for me.
Then, to study more effectively, I used a table to show the available sources by topic, because I am a linear learner, so the table is good for me to trace where I am.
Anticipating exam questions
Because this was first exam I took for this course so I did not have any previous resource to look at so I used syllabus and the class notes to anticipate exam questions.
First, I took a look at the syllabus annotation for this course, and I found that the professor expects us to know the styles and the ideas behind them. Except that, we should remember the dates, places and artists, too.
After that, I looked at the exam format before I anticipate the questions.
Then, I browsed my class notes and decided to put all the important slide IDs together and print it out. For each slide ID, I have names, dates and places for architecture on the bottom and I arranged them by period and put the characteristics/ ideas in the beginning of each period.
Finally, I highlighted all the important slide IDs which I think would be tested for short essays and comparison essays and wrote the important details for each one beside those slides I chose.
Those two strategies were so effective for this course and I think I got almost all Identification correct by this method. I think I can remember it more productively because it gives me a clear direction and I am a linear and visual learner. I will definitely use this way to review this course in the future.
Finally, I highlighted all the important slide IDs which I think would be tested for short essays and comparison essays and wrote the important details for each one beside those slides I chose.
This is great, May! I love your use of highlighters to indicate which slides you thought would be most important to know for your essays. I always find that colors help me memorize! See you tomorrow!
