Ranking Priorities!

Hi everyone!

So for this week's Tech Assignment, I chose to blog about Ranking Priorities! This problem solving strategy is a real winner, and this is why.

Everyone at one point or another has procrastinated his or herself into a corner. This can be the most stressful, horrible position to be in. You know what you have to do, you know when it has to be done by, but you just can't bring yourself to do it. So you wait and wait, and suddenly, it's Sunday night and your essay is due at 8:25 the next morning. You know you're not sleeping tonight.

Enter Ranking Priorities. With this strategy, you will never let yourself procrastinate again. First, you make yourself a list of what you need to complete. I chose to do mine for a whole week, the week of Sept. 26-Oct. 2. I wrote down everything I knew that I would need to accomplish by Friday evening, and then I went through my list and and marked every task either

A (Absolutely essential),
B (Important), and
C (Optional)

Unfortunately, none of my tasks this week could be called "optional", but I muddled through!

Then I went through the two categories, A & B, and gave number rank to those in order of priority within their separate groups.

Here is my completed Ranking Priorities sheet:

Thanks to my Ranking Priorities sheet, I was able to make my work load seem much more doable, and complete all of my tasks, including turning in my Faculty Interview Project early :)

Next week when I use the strategy, I hope I have at least some tasks to put in the Optional group! Whew! I'll definitely be recommending this strategy to my stressed-out friends in the Drama department.

  1. I think it is extremely useful especially if you have a lot assignments due next week and I tried this before in a different way, and I listed all assignments the by A,B,C.

  2. I also tried this but not only in academic, but also in my daily life cause there are always lots of things to do. As a result, this strategy helped to drive off my mess.
